Getting to Wadi Rum

Wadi Rum is in southern Jordan, about an hour from Aqaba and an hour and a half from Petra. Distances and times below are approximate and depend on traffic.

From Aqaba

About 70 km, roughly 1 hour by car. King Hussein International Airport (AQJ) is about 70 km away. Take a taxi, a rental car or a minibus from the Aqaba bus station.

From Petra

About 104 km, around 1.5 hours by car. A private transfer or taxi is the easiest option, or you can hire a car. Bus services are limited, so check the current timetable first.

From Amman

About 324 km, around 4 hours by car, up to 5 in heavy traffic. There is no direct bus from Amman: travel to Aqaba or Petra first, or book a private transfer or hire car.

Where we meet you

  • Your guide meets you at your camp or at the visitor car park in Wadi Rum village, a 5-minute drive past the visitor centre. Parking is free.
  • Every visitor pays a 5 JD entrance fee at the visitor centre. Entry is free with the Jordan Pass.
  • If you drive yourself, leave your car in the free, secure parking in Wadi Rum village. Your guide takes you into the desert by jeep.
  • Tell your driver you are meeting Wadi Rum Star Beds, and send us your arrival time so we can be ready.

By bus

JETT buses pass the Wadi Rum turn-off but do not stop there. Local buses and minibuses run from the Aqaba bus station to the Visitor Centre and Wadi Rum village. Timetables change often, so message us before you travel.
